These terms set out the conditions under which Dao Siam ("we", "the workshop") provides watch repair and restoration services to clients ("you", "the owner"). By leaving a watch in our care or making a service enquiry, you accept these conditions. Please read them at your ease before proceeding.
1. About These Terms
These terms govern the relationship between Dao Siam, a watch repair and restoration workshop located at 12 Thanon Ratchadamnoen, Phra Sing, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand, and any individual who submits a watch or timepiece for service, inspection, or restoration.
We may revise these terms from time to time. The version posted on our website at the time a service is agreed shall apply. Continued use of our services following any revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
2. Services Offered
Dao Siam offers three principal services: Standard Watch Service, Refinishing and Polishing, and Heritage Movement Rebuild. Full descriptions, scope, and current pricing are available on our services page and may be discussed in person at the workshop.
Any additional work identified during service will be communicated to you before it proceeds. We do not extend the scope of a service without your agreement. Where we are unable to reach you and the watch requires attention to avoid deterioration, we will take only the most conservative action and explain our reasoning when you collect.
3. Estimates and Pricing
Prices for our standard services are as listed. For Heritage Movement Rebuilds and complex restorations, a written estimate or plan is agreed with you before work begins. Estimates are prepared in good faith and reflect conditions observable at the time of assessment.
If, during the course of work, we discover conditions that alter the scope or cost, we will pause and contact you to discuss. You are always free to decline additional work and request the watch be returned in its current state.
All prices are quoted in Thai Baht (฿) and inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Payment is due upon collection unless a separate arrangement has been made in writing.
4. Turnaround Times
Indicative turnaround times are given as guidance. Standard Watch Services are typically completed within two to four weeks. Refinishing work varies with complexity. Heritage Movement Rebuilds proceed at the pace the movement requires and are not subject to fixed timelines.
We will contact you when your watch is ready for collection. We are not liable for delays caused by the availability of specialist parts, the condition of the movement upon inspection, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
5. Submitting a Watch
When you leave a watch with us, we will record its condition at intake, noting any visible marks, damage, or missing components. You will receive a receipt describing the item and the service requested. Please retain this receipt, as it will be required upon collection.
You confirm that you are the owner of the watch or have the authority of the owner to submit it for service. Dao Siam will not proceed with work on a watch where ownership is in question.
We ask that watches be collected promptly once work is complete. Watches left uncollected for more than ninety days after notification may be subject to storage arrangements, which we will communicate to you in writing.
6. Care and Responsibility
We take reasonable care of every watch in our keeping. Watches are stored securely when not being worked on. We maintain professional workshop practices and handle all pieces with appropriate care for their age and value.
Our liability for loss or damage is limited to the fair repair or replacement value of the watch as agreed at intake. We strongly recommend that owners with particularly valuable or collectible pieces discuss this with us prior to submission and consider whether independent insurance coverage is appropriate.
We are not liable for pre-existing faults not noted at intake, deterioration caused by the normal age or condition of components, or for matters outside our reasonable control.
7. Service Warranty
We stand behind our work. Standard Watch Services include a service warranty covering workmanship for a period of twelve months from the date of collection, under normal conditions of use. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, water ingress beyond the watch's rated resistance, or wear caused by conditions unrelated to the service performed.
Refinishing work and Heritage Movement Rebuilds are covered by workmanship warranties as described at the time of agreement. If you have a concern about work we have carried out, please contact us and we will discuss it with you openly.
8. Cancellation and Returns
You may cancel a service request at any time before work has begun and your watch will be returned to you at no charge. If work has commenced, you may request the return of your watch and we will discuss a fair arrangement for any work already completed.
Once a service is complete and the watch collected, returns are not generally accepted unless a workmanship concern is raised within a reasonable period, in which case we will consider it under the service warranty terms above.
9. Original Parts and Components
Where a service involves the replacement of worn components, we will inform you of this and, where practicable and desired, retain original parts for return with the watch. This is standard practice for Heritage Movement Rebuilds.
We source replacement components from reputable suppliers and endeavour to use period-appropriate parts for older movements where available. Where original manufacturer parts are not obtainable, we will discuss alternatives with you before proceeding.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, imagery, layout, and design — belongs to Dao Siam or is used under appropriate licence. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use this content without our written consent. Nothing on this website constitutes professional horological advice applicable to a specific watch or situation without direct assessment.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute arising from or connected with these terms or our services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.
We hope that any concerns can be resolved through a calm conversation. If you have a question or dispute, please contact us directly in the first instance and we will do our best to reach a considerate resolution.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms periodically. When we do, we will revise the date shown above. The terms in effect at the time a service is agreed will apply to that service. Material changes will be noted clearly on this page.
Questions About These Terms
If any part of these terms is unclear or you would like to discuss them before submitting your watch, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to explain our practices in plain terms.
